Improve Your Memory!

Helpful Hints to help you remember what you learned in class!

1. Attention

When you are learning something new it helps to focus all of your attention on it and not have anything hat could distract you. This helps move something from short-term memory to long-term memory.

2. No Cramming

Instead of waiting till the night before a test to study, break down everything you need to learn and study over a period of time. This will help you actually process and learn the information. Plus, you aren't stressing out the whole time you are studying because the test isn't the next day.

3. Sleep

Getting a good night's sleep helps your memory and learning. When you are trying to learn a new concept and you can't figure it out, sometimes it helps to just take a nap and try again in the morning. Being well rested makes learning new things way easier and helps you remember them longer.

4. Repetition

When you are learning something new or studying something old a good way to remember it is to keep repeating the concept. Repetition helps move ideas from your short term memory to your long term memory. A good tool for repetition is using flashcards.

5. Mnemonic device

Creating a mnemonic device helps you store something in your memory. If you are creative with it then it's easy to remember the saying or word you came up with and eventually what it stands for will follow.
