From the principal's desk

Tena koutou katoa,

It was my pleasure to take a group of talented athletes to Porritt Stadium yesterday to compete in the 2022 Waikato Full Primary Athletics Championship. It had been three years since this event was last held due to covid. Our students competed admirably throughout the day, striving to do their absolute best against tough competition, epitomising our ‘Whaia Kia U- Strive to Succeed’ Learner Dimension. This year's team was made up of Year 7’s, who will get to try and raise the bar even higher next year.

The team was Sahara Gardner- Walker, Oceane Opie, Ariana Parker, Quartez McLaren, Charlie Knight, Xavier Van Kuijk, Blake Watts and Connor Wood.

All students should be proud of their competitive results and personal bests that were achieved. The students below deserve special recognition for their podium results.

Sahara Gardner- Walker- 1st Place Year 7 Girls 100m, 1st Place Year 7 Girls 200m.

Ariana Parker- 2nd Place Year 7 Girls High Jump.

Oceane Opie- 3rd Place Year 7 Girls Long Jump.

Quartez McLaren- 1st Place Year 7 Boys Discus.

Xavier Van Kuijk- 1st Place Year 7 Boys High Jump, 1st Place Year 7 Boys 1500m, 3rd Place Year 7 Boys Relay.

Rugby with Higgy!

We have been lucky enough to have James Higgins (the newly appointed Thames Valley Rugby Development Officer) in school on Monday and Tuesday with our Piwakawaka and Pukeko Touch Rugby kids.

James was running skill sessions with the kids and promoting Touch Rugby and Rippa Rugby for our Juniors. Each day 'Higgy' had a set of helpers who were the lucky recipients of some Thames Valley Rugby track suits.

The kids had a blast...Thanks Higgy!

Christmas Traditions in Room 13

Room 13 wanted to celebrate the end of a fantastic year together by sharing in one of Mrs Hamilton’s Christmas traditions.

Together they planned and executed a class full of individual gingerbread houses. Making them took a whole lot of patience and incredible self control. Everyone involved agreed it was worth all the effort. Check out the video link below for the many days of preparation.

A big thank you to the Duck and Cover for offering to pay for our ingredients!

Operation Gingerbread house - Room 13 SAS

Uniform Room is open on Wednesday Mornings 8.30-9.30am. Eftpos available.
