Here's What We've Been Learning!
Today was the "Health Talk" and we're sure your kiddos came home excited (haha) to talk about it! In the parent letter that was sent home a few weeks back, it did indicate that if you would like to borrow the video to watch with your child at home you certainly can and to contact to the office.
We still need a lot of division practice! Our party is going to be pushed back a few weeks due to all of the snow days! Please make sure your kiddo is practicing facts each night! Flashcards, Xtra Math or otherwise!
Writers Workshop: We began drafting the final copy of the Persuasive Essay! These will be due next week and then we'll start our TED Talk speeches!
Social Studies: Students have been researching an era that has impacted our state's history and will be creating a teaching tool to use as they teach their group about their era as the "expert". This activity greatly supports all of the work they've been doing in our Reader's Workshop as students become more aware of how to use informational text correctly to learn! Stay tuned!
Readers Workshop: This week students were taught the importance of relying on credible & trustworthy sources as they dig for information. We also taught what types of internet sources are "most" reliable and also stressed the importance of cross checking sources to verify accurate information.
Spelling: New Sort Next Week! Your child should be able to show you his/her sort test score and the words that were misspelled. Each Friday, sorts are glued into their 5-subject notebook in the "WTW" section and any misspelled words from the test are written 5x next to the sort.
Next week we have Lifeskills with Ms. Seiler from 2:30-3:00 Monday-Wednesday! This takes our WIN time away and we have been stressing the importance of using time wisely in the classroom to maximize work time!
