*You accept that people are different
*You have respect for the feelings and well being of others
KIA ORA WHANAU, FROM MR O
A reminder about systems at Vogeltown in regards to coming on to school grounds to collect your child for an appointment or bringing a child back from an appointment, to please 'sign them in or out' in the book(s) at both the senior and junior offices. This is part of our health and safety policy at Vogeltown. Thanks heaps!
The Vogeltown Adventure is on next Friday 28th February. A permission and information letter is with your child today. If you want to come, we will be asking parents to bring their own cars as room on the buses is tight. We will not be asking any money for this trip as it is part of our topic study this term.
Two weeks ago we sent home a 'Parent homework sheet' for every parent to fill in. This sheet is very important to us and we want to get 100% of these sheets back to school. The sheets give us some insight in to your child's passions, interests, talents, their curriculum interests and any other info you think we should know about your child. If you have not got a sheet, please ask your child's teacher or ask for a sheet at the office(s). PLEASE get these back to your child's teacher by the end of next week at the latest.
Also as part of our commitment to better engage with our families, we are using the 'Seesaw' app. Every teacher is using this app as another form of communication. See some info below about Seesaw.
Looking forward to our very busy week next week:
Whanau Tryathlon: Tuesday 25th February
Syndicate Tryathlon: Wednesday 26th February
Whanau Fiesta Thursday 27th February (5pm - 7pm): The senior school back field will be open for parking)
Vogeltown Adventure to Tawhiti Museum - Friday 28th February: (we will be back by 3pm)
THANK YOU!
SCHOOL POOL - IMPORTANT INFORMATION
We would hate to close the pool to our community, but if we have any more breaches of our school pool policy, then we will have to do so.
We are in the process of putting together a 'Vogeltown Pool Committee' for the 2021 pool season. If you are keen to be on that committee, please see Mr O. This committee will be in charge of the pool - will be trained in checking the chemical levels in the weekend, be rostered on to clean the pool in the weekends and will be available to help get the pool ready in 2021.
WHANAU FUN FIESTA
WHANAU FUN FIESTA
After the success of last years in inaugural 'fiesta', we are going to do it again! In previous years we have had a Meet the Teacher evening, a whanau picnic and then the gala. This year again we are combining all three into one night. It will be another great night - a night to fundraise, meet other Vogeltown whanau and meet the Vogeltown Staff.
Date: Thursday 27th February
Time: 5pm - 7pm
Where: Junior School grounds (Some parking will be available on the senior school field)
Whats on offer:
Food stalls - Sausage sizzle, Hamburgers, Pizza, vege nachos, cakes, ice blocks, jellies and Candy Floss.
Activity stalls - Cake stall, Bouncy castle, water slide (bring your togs), Horizontal bungee, Tug-o-War, sack races.
It is going to be a great event. A huge thanks to all our sponsors who have provided much of the stuff we need to make it a huge success!
We are asking for some donations of marshmallows and jelly from our community. If you can help with this, please send them along to the junior or senior offices.
See you all there!!
Nga mihi

COMMUNICATION UPDATE FORM
Please fill this form in and return it to your child's classroom teacher if you had a change in address, contact numbers, email address or any other contact details you think we need to know. Thanks heaps!
SWIMMING AT VS
As part of our PE and Health curriculum, we expect the kids to swim everyday. The new swimming curriculum encourages water safety, water exploration and water confidence at this age, so we do not expect kids to be doing lengths of freestyle and butterfly.
Please make sure your child(ren) have their togs ready to go every day. With the weather the way it is currently, we will be making the most of the pool.
If you want to use the pool after school hours, please see the senior office for a key. All keys are $45 ($5 back when key returned at the end of the season). You will be required to sign an agreement with the school - please read the terms and conditions carefully.
BALLET AT VOGELTOWN
We are very fortunate to have an educator from the RNZB visiting us for a workshop on Tuesday 10th March from 12pm to 1pm in the school hall. This will be for any Year 3 to Year 6 children and will cover some basic ballet steps and positions. There is a limit of 25 children for this workshop so if your child is interested, they can put their name down on the sign up sheet at the senior office.
It will be first in first served for places.p sheet at the senior office.
