Hello Woodsy Owls!,
What a great week and a half we have had. For those of you whose schedules allowed it, I want to thank-you for coming out to Back to School Night last Thursday. We had a great group and a fun time was had by all.
For those of you whose schedules didn't allow it, the papers that were handed out and the information conveyed was sent home (or will coming in the Monday's folder.)
We are working hard on finishing up our beginning of year assessments and will be working on personalizing the small groups for exactly where your student is learning.
As always remember that you have any questions, to give us a call.

Want to get involved...
Volunteering: We are excited to announce that we will be able to have parent volunteers on campus this year. If you are new to the Woodsy Owl Family and wish to volunteer, please ask in the school office and get a packet of information about fingerprinting and TB screening.
- The partnership with our community plays such a huge part in helping our students and school flourish. The past years our PTC has worked hard to bring in a series of assemblies, science, art supplies, sound system, recess supplies, playground equipment, campus beautification, community events, and so much more. They are a part of so many experiences that improve the culture of the school for our students and families.
- Another organization would be our Placer Hills Education Foundation (PHEF). This group sponsors events like the BBQ and Brew, Bingo, and more to help support the entire district. This past year they were able to fund all field trips at both sites as just a small sample of what this program has provided.
That being said, there are many opportunities to develop that partnership that will make the greatest impact in their education, so please watch out for those opportunities as they arise, for example:
Parent, Teacher Club
Placer Hills Education Foundation (PHEF)
Lions Club
Sight Word Busters
Docents
Teacher-led instructional support, usually in the classroom
Reading with children who need extra help
School-wide events
Student recognition events
Outreach and recruitment of parent and community volunteers
If you are interested in helping in any of these facets, please let your child's teacher know. Also, if you have never volunteered at SHS before, please fill out the volunteer application linked here.
Huge Kudos to our Woodsy Owl Parents for their safe driving.
I personally so appreciate how well this community knows and follows the parking lot procedures. Mrs. Sindel rewarded one parent with a Starbucks card. Not only was this parent driving safely and following all of the parking lot rules, but this parent went the extra step and had their child's name and the teacher's name posted for us to see, so we could get the child ready to load the car. This is very helpful and some of you may wish to follow suit.
You may drop off and pick up in the bus loop AFTER the buses have left. I failed to mention that in the last newsletter, so thank-you to those who asked me.
I hope you all have a great week.
