Where Everyone Can Succeed
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
- We are excited to welcome back parents for our first assemblies in 2022. The 3-6 assembly is on 23rd May and the K-2 assembly is on the 30th May both at 11:30am. I cant wait to see the excited students receive their special going strong awards.
- Rapid Antigen kits will be sent home next week with students whose parents have signed the online consent note. The school will send more communication through Sentral Parent Portal
- We have successfully completed the 2022 NAPLAN online for all our Year 3 and 5 students. Thank you to the coordinator Mrs Budd and the teachers who supported over 170 students to complete four different NAPLAN assessments.

- Close contacts attending school will need to adhere to the following in addition to the NSW Health guidelines:
- They must notify the school and/or early childhood education (ECE) service provider (including their outside of school hours care provider) if they are intending to return under this provision.
- They should conduct a daily RAT and return a negative result each morning before attending school for 5 school days.
- They (if in a secondary school setting) must wear a mask indoors except when eating or exercising. Primary school students are recommended to wear a mask indoors (except when eating or exercising).
- If a student is unwell and has any COVID-19 symptoms, they should always test for COVID-19.
- If the test comes back negative for COVID-19, the student should still not return to school until either:
- The student no longer has any symptoms, or
- A medical certificate is provided to the school confirming that symptoms are explained by another diagnosis (such as hay fever)
- It is important that students do not attend school if they are unwell, even if they have tested negative for COVID-19. Rapid antigen tests can produce false negative results and symptoms of other illnesses can also be similar to COVID-19, including flu, the common cold and stomach bugs.
- Health advice is that students who are sick should always stay home to rest and recover and avoid putting other students and staff at risk of getting sick.
Reducing the risk of illness this winter.
- All students, staff and their families should follow NSW Health’s advice to reduce the risk of not only COVID-19, but also other illnesses that may affect schools this winter such as the flu. Schools should reinforce the following NSW Health messages with their communities:
- stay home if unwell
- keep up to date with vaccinations – including the flu vaccine, which is available from your local GP, pharmacy or Aboriginal Medical Service. Flu vaccines are free for all children aged 6 months to under 5 years, or for a small charge for those aged 5 years and older
- get tested immediately for COVID-19 if you become symptomatic and isolate until you receive a negative result
- practice good hand hygiene by washing regularly with soap and water
- take a RAT before visiting vulnerable loved ones or going to large gatherings and events.
- We are seeking volunteers to run both the K-2 Home Reading and the Numeracy at Home Programs in Term 2.
- We require at least 2 parents or caregivers on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings to volunteer 1 hour of their time to exchange the Home Readers and numeracy games for our students.
- These are extremely worthwhile programs which we are only able to continue to offer to students and their families if we have enough helpers.
- It’s a great idea to volunteer with a friend, or just volunteer to make a friend if you are new to the school.
- If you are interested, please email the school glendore-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au
