Juniors: Opportunity to take the SAT during the school day (without the writing portion)
This was a separate email that went out this week to junior parents. In case you missed it:
Dear CISD High School Juniors, Parents and Guardians:
Last spring, we shared with you changes to our high school comprehensive assessment system. The signing of House Bill 3 by Gov. Greg Abbott this summer has enabled Coppell ISD to offer the SAT (without the writing portion) to our junior level learners. This test will be offered during the school day at no cost to parents/guardians or to the district. Learners will not be counted absent from their classes should they choose to take the SAT during the school day.
Testing will take place on Wednesday, March 4, 2020, at 8:50 a.m. at your child’s campus. To take advantage of the SAT School Day testing opportunity, parents must register their child(ren) by Friday, November 1, 2019. No late applications will be accepted. The link to register is: tinyurl.com/SATCISD
There is no make-up day for this test through the district. However, you are welcome to register your child for other SAT testing opportunities through the following website: https://collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/sat/register/dates-deadlines
We appreciate your support and are grateful to the Texas Legislature for funding this additional assessment opportunity for our learners. If you have any questions, please contact Debbie Youngs at dyoungs@coppellisd.com.
Sincerely,
Dr. Angie Applegate
Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction

AP Exam Ordering ****New Process For This Year****
In person collection dates are:
September 16th-20th
October 28th- 31st
Online payment goes live September 3rd-October 31st.
Schoolpay will be available starting in September for payments and will stay open through October 31st. https://www.schoolpay.com/login/
The first thing to note is that College Board has created online resources for learners to access materials that enhance their work in classes. All AP facilitators will be sharing join codes with their learners this week to help them get set up in that system. Before learners are able to join classes though, they will need to sign up for or remember their myap college board account. Information on how to access or set up their accounts is available here.
When learners join with the class codes online, they will need to select whether they intend to take the test. Learners are able to change their minds on that question, but this will give us a good head count of who is actually planning on taking the AP exam.
Registering and Paying For Exams
Regular registration ends on October 31st. The fee to take the test is $94 and can be paid online using SchoolPay or in person on designated dates (Dates will be posted at the beginning of September and will include some dates in September and October). We can not separate the fee into different payments and will need to collect the entire fee for each exam at one time. If you need assistance with payment for financial reasons, please let us know. Please understand we will not be able to give refunds after October 31st. Learners who register for exams after October 31st will have to pay an additional $40 for registration and must do so by March 4th. I know that is a steep late fee but that is what College Board assesses us for a late fee.

Application Process and Forms
A student with a documented disability may be eligible for accommodations on College Board tests (SAT, SAT Subject Tests, PSAT, and AP exams) and the ACT. The school does not automatically apply for students to receive accommodations, but will assist families once the request is made to begin the process of applying for accommodations if their child is eligible for Section 504 or SPED. Parents should initiate the process by visiting our information page located on the New Tech High Website, under Announcements:
If you have any questions regarding testing accommodations, please contact Ms. Shaikh, Assistant Principal at rshaikh@coppellisd.com.
