LMS Room 106
Reading Classroom for grades 6,7,and 8
Week in Review 4/20- 4/24 *6th Grade*
Go ahead, ask us about Frank Lloyd Wright! We know so much more about Mr. Wright and his architecture than we did last week. "Professor" Monte Muller (yep, the retired LHS/LMS band director) to give us a presentation on Mr. Wright and some of his famous buildings. If you drive to Spring Green in the near future, look for Taliesen before you cross the bridge. We've got some other vacation destinations as well. As a teacher, I was busting with pride as my students were polite and engaged throughout Mr. Muller's 90+ minute presentation. And now when I ask questions, it's easy to tell they really listened because their answers are spot on. LMS = the best 6th graders anywhere!!!
Week in Review 4/20-4/24 *7th Grade*
We're solidly underway on the Book Partnership Project. The partnerships are done with their first stopping place as of 4:00 today. This week we used those books to talk about narration and the link between inference and prediction.
I'm worried about the 7th graders' senses of humor! Our read aloud is How Carl Peterson Got His Name by Gary Paulsen. It is sooooo funny and they hardly smile, let alone laugh. I hope it's not because my reading is bad. :( What's not to chuckle at the antics of adolescent boys trying to make their own fun in the world before computers, smartphones and video games?!

Resources
There are many resources to be used for success at LMS.
If you need a calendar of today's homework, try the Remind site or the school's website.
If you would like to see books, the LMS library catalog is on the school's website under the student tab. The Schreiner Memorial Library (Lancaster's public library) has a website that gives lots of information on their collection, the Southwest Wisconsin Library System collection, the library hours & events and a link to Overdrive for the online collection.

REMIND
As part of my attempt to use more technology and to add another way to give an opportunity for student success, I have joined other staff members in using the website Remind. It will give you the homework for the day on your phone or computer. Each student was given a handout with the ways to log on to my page of the Remind website.
