Welcome Bethune Cadets

Dear Parents,

Welcome to the 2021-2022 School Year! It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to a new and exciting school year. We have a thrilling calendar of events focused on communication, student engagement, and academic achievement.

Our teachers, faculty and staff are committed to the continued academic excellence that Bethune Academy was built upon. We were faced with many challenges last year, but we are proud of the work of our students, teachers, parents, and staff. We have worked to address many of those challenges, and we are confident that we have the right resources, supports, teachers, staff, and essentials to take Bethune Academy to new heights.

We are continuing to build upon the history and academic excellence that Bethune Academy was founded upon. With that in mind, our theme for this new adventure is:

Building Leaders Through S.T.E.M

(S eek To Understand, Take the Initiative, Embrace Challenges, Make Everyday Count)

We continue to embed Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics experiences for all our Bethune Cadets.

This Summer, our teachers participated in a 2-day Teacher Retreat. They were provided training on creating interactive Science/Math notebooks and the 5 E’s in Science (Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate and Evaluate.) Teachers also participated in hands on science inquiry experiences. Science resources and Standards were used to create engaging and interactive Science investigations for students to explore during the first week of school, and throughout the year.

Let’s transform and look for opportunities that we can create something unexpected. We are always looking for a few new “Bethune Partners.” If that means getting more involved, reading a little more with and to your child, asking more questions about Florida Standards or becoming an active member in PTA, then I am challenging you to do it. We need you!

Enclosed you will find information on the first day arrival, dismissal procedures and updated Covid-19 Protocol and Guidelines. Please complete the enclosed documents and return to your child’s teacher by August 16th.
