Camp Agawam playground build
Help us build our dream playground in Orion Township, we need your help and support!
An exciting project to transform the space at Camp Agawam into a playful paradise is in the works. This “community-build” playspace project will enhance our community in numerous ways, but your help is needed to make our playspace dream come true for our children and our community.
We believe that an outdoor play space produces healthy, imaginative, respectful and sociable children. It provides a safe place for children to learn and grow. A playground is more than a playground; it’s a brain-expander, a friend-maker, and a muscle-builder. Our “community-build” playspace project calls on the entire community to participate, whether that be through monetary donations, donations of food, water, tools (we need to borrow tools such as rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows, trash cans, power tools, hammers, screw drivers, etc.), photographers, and/or volunteering during prep days and build day. We have a wide range of volunteer opportunities, for people of all skills and abilities including unloading trucks and organizing items on prep days, to building and assembling the playground on build day, running kids activity stations, taking photos, preparing and serving food, and more. In fact, we need more than 300 volunteers to make this day possible! Children in the community personally drew designs of what they would like their playspace to look like and we can’t wait to make it a reality for them. We believe this community-built playspace will unite our community and forge a connection between the youth and adults.
Our playspace build event, scheduled for Saturday, October 6, 2018, will be long remembered in the community. The “community-build” playspace will be heavily advertised throughout our social media platforms for several weeks before the event. This project is focused on community involvement and produces visible, tangible, unifying outcomes that you will be proud of for years to come.
Volunteering does count towards service hours. Keep in mind that any donation made is tax deductible. If you would like to donate to our project, please make your checks payable to: Orion Township, 2525 Joslyn Road, Lake Orion, MI 48360.

Fund Run
This run is the only Student Council fundraiser for the year. Our Student Council sponsors A LOT of great stuff for our school. They have purchased shelves for the bathrooms, assemblies, wall murals, bottle filler drinking fountains, and so much more!
Please plan on donating (can be online through PaySchools) and helping out our Student Council. The link to volunteer is below.
7th and 8th grade opportunity
Oakland County Chief Asst. Prosecutor Paul Walton will be a guest speaker for our 7th and 8th grade students on October 11, 2018 at 8:00 am. He will discuss the use of technology and the law, specifically social media and online behavior. The Prosecutor’s Office is making this education a priority and has reached out to us as a partner in spreading the word about the proper and safe use of social media. We are excited for his visit, as both the Prosecutor and schools have seen an uptick in recent years involving social media and bullying, illegal activity, and threats using social media. Hearing this information from another credible and authoritative voice will only add to the education our students are receiving in their classes at Oakview.
Say cheese :-)
If you were not able to be here on walk through day, picture re-take day is October 1, 2018. See the link below to order pictures.
