Shine Bright with Supt. Rebecca A. Jenkins
Dear District 70 families:
The first two days of our new school year have come and gone, and what a kick-off it has been! I hope your children came home with stories of laughter, discoveries, rekindled friendships, and full of excitement for the year ahead.
Your children, our exceptional educators, and our dedicated staff have brought our vision of Learning Together to life. This week, I witnessed so many small moments that brought together the feeling of warmth and connectedness we strive to create in District 70. All those small things – the reassuring pat on the back from a teacher, the eagerness in our students’ eyes, the kind hellos exchanged in the hallway, the embraces of friends reconnected. Together, we've started building the environment where our children will shine.
Thank you for the trust you place in District 70. We’re truly in this together, and the enthusiasm I felt this week reaffirms that our community is bound for a remarkable year ahead.
Shine Bright,
Rebecca

PSAT Info for 8th Grade Families
District 70 eighth-grade students will be taking the PSAT 8/9 for high school placement on Friday, Oct. 13, 2023, during the school day at Highland Middle School.
The PSAT 8/9 (Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test) assessment helps students prepare for the future. The PSAT 8/9 is the first exam in the College Board's "SAT Suite of Assessments" and is offered to eighth- and ninth-graders. The purpose of the PSAT 8/9 is to establish a starting point in terms of college and career readiness as students transition to high school. The assessment identifies areas where students excel so they can consider taking higher-level courses. Students also learn which skills they need to work on for continued success through high school, college, and in their careers. PSAT 8/9 scores are not shared with colleges.
Libertyville High School will share more information with families in September. Please try to keep students in school on Oct. 13 and avoid unnecessary absences, doctor’s appointments, or late arrivals.
For more information please visit the CollegeBoard PSAT 8/9 Information website. Or contact Dr. Kerri Bongle, D70 director of growth & talent at kbongle@d70schools.org, or HMS Principal Dr. Jon Hallmark at jhallmark@d70schools.org.
Parents and students partnered in helping to sort school supplies during the Kindergarten Kickoff.
