Speeding Up the Lunch Lines
We are excited to announce that we will provide students with the option of scanning their finger when purchasing food in the cafeteria. This form of identification is called Biometrics. It is important to know this is not fingerprinting. At no time will your child’s fingerprint be stored. This is no different than the process used to unlock many smartphones using a finger/thumb. Please click this link for specific details on the process.
We are bringing this system to Muskego Lakes in response to feedback from students and families. Students were clear that they wanted to spend more time eating, more time outside, and less time in line. The finger scanners will be able to read the scan and identify the student in less than a second. In addition, your child will no longer have to remember to take his/her ID card to and from lunch every day. For middle school students, this seems to be a challenge. Last year, if a student forgot their ID, lunch staff would manually search for the student in the system. This significantly impacted the wait time for students in line.
In order for students to use the finger scanners at lunch, families will need to complete the consent form at one of our Forms and Fees days (August 20th & 21st). Students will then complete an initial finger scan to get them into the system. If a student does not have consent to use the finger scanners, he/she will be required to bring their student ID to lunch.
We look forward to improving the cafeteria experience for our students!
