End of an Unforgettable Year
We want to thank you for your support throughout one of (if not the most) difficult year in education in a generation. COVID protocols, social distancing, masks, quarantines, and all of the challenges that our students faced did not stop them from finishing the year on an incredible high.
I am so proud of the work that our students have done this year. Many people will want to focus on what was lost this year, but I want to reflect on what was gained. Our students gained an appreciation for their family and the support that people who love each other can provide during difficult times. Our students gained resilience and tenacity to know that they can overcome incredible challenges. Our students gained a crash course in technology. They'll see now that distance cannot keep them from connecting with those that they care about. Finally, I hope they gained a recognition of the love and affection that our staff has for them when we are all in person or apart. This love does not change based on where we are learning.
Thank you all again for your partnerships this year. I hope your family has a fun and exciting summer!

Reading Tutor and Math Tutor Wanted for 2021-22 School Year
Make a difference in your community and join our team as a reading tutor. JCE is looking for a reading and a math tutor to give their time and talent to help our kids become successful readers and learners.
Reading tutors work one-on-one or in small groups with students (grades K-3)during school hours throughout the school year. Math tutors serve during the school day working with small groups of students (grades 4-8) who need extra help building their math skills.
No matter if you’re a recent grad, career changer, stay-at-home parent or retiree, you can make a great tutor! No experience? No problem. Minnesota Reading and Math Corps provides comprehensive training in strategies proven to help students learn, so tutors are well equipped to help students grow.
Perks as A Tutor
• Receive a stipend every two weeks
• Earn up to $4,300 for college tuition or student loans. Tutors 55 and older may gift the award to their child, grandchild, stepchild or foster child.

Students in households that meet the free or reduced price meal income guidelines will generate compensatory revenue for their school. Schools must use compensatory revenue to meet the needs of students who are behind their peers, such as remedial instruction, instructional materials including digital learning and technology, bilingual programs and additional teachers and teacher aides. These applications may also make teachers in your school eligible for the federal Teacher Loan Forgiveness Program if they have outstanding college loans. However, the household must complete and return the forms, or complete the online form, no later than December 15 so the school can calculate eligibility and report to MDE.
