What's Happening in PBS?
Week of 11/8-11/13
This week in PBS, we are working on our Diagnosing Diabetes lab. We will conduct the actual lab tomorrow in class and then spend tues/wed working on making the excel graphs and finishing up the conclusion questions that go with the lab. On thursday, we are hosting a guest speaker from UMKC to talk to the kids about what they need to be doing now as Freshmen to prepare to have good applications to college/medical school one day. They came last year and provided some really good information about what colleges look for and they will be explaining healthcare related opportunists from UMKC that the kids can participate in now. Then the students will have a long weekend! Enjoy!
As for HOSA this week, we have a lot going on! It is our second half of HOSA week and we are trying to raise money this week for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
Fundraisers this week
- Pennies for Patients - we will be having penny wars between the 9 biomed classes. Students put pennies into their class jar to raise their positive balance and they put silver change (or green cash) into other classes' jars to sabotage and make their balance go negative. The class with the most positive balance will be the finalists. The finalist class will all put their names into a raffle to be able to put a pie into one of the principals in the face at the winter assembly. It is quite a good time!
- Orange Ribbon Sales - we will be selling orange ribbons during collaboration (and in class) for $0.25 each that students can write the name of someone they know that has been through the cancer fight. It can be any cancer, not just Leukemia and Lymphoma. We are creating a mural in the main hallway with all the ribbons.
- Hot Beverage Sales - we are finally starting to sell hot beverages in the morning!!! Each cup is $1 and all profits for this week also go towards the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
