Principal's Pen
It might be cold here in Michigan these days but our students are busy as bees, staying warm inside and working hard as usual! It's nice when we get a day warm enough to play outside and today is one of those days. So we will take it!
We are at work laying the plans for another great Catholic Schools Week which is coming up at the end of January. I am sending home our first draft of these plans in the Monday Mailer. I call it a draft only because we may end up needing to make changes as this week draws closer, but want to make sure you at least have some idea of what lies in store for that week. Please take a look at it. If this is your first year here at BBCS, Catholic Schools Week is a super busy week filled with lots of activities celebrating how great it is to be a Catholic School! You'll be getting lots of email reminders that week to help you remember dress down days and other special events. We'll be sure to keep you in the loop!
The 7th and 8th graders are taking a class ski trip to Ironwood during Catholic Schools Week! They are leaving on Wednesday, February 2nd and returning Friday, February 4th. As they prepare for this event, they are raising money to help alleviate the cost. Their fundraiser this week will be a popcorn sale on Wednesday, which happens to be National Popcorn Day. Students will be able to purchase a bag of popcorn for a minimum donation of $1.00. Thank you in advance for supporting our 7th and 8th graders!
Our Caught Being a Christian Award this week goes to Kimberly VanWolvelaere. Kimberly was very helpful and took great care of her supplies in Spanish class. She was practicing the virtue of responsibility. Great job, Kimberly!
I hope you have a wonderful week!
God bless,
Angela Oller

Last week, in science class, grades 7 and 8 explored generating electricity like "The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind" with wind turbines. They will test different blades by changing shape, size, or materials in order to design an efficient wind turbine.
