Incoming Rockwood Superintendent Dr. Curtis Cain Named National Superintendent of the Year

On Thursday, Feb. 17, incoming Rockwood Superintendent Dr. Curtis Cain was named the National Superintendent of the Year by the AASA at the School Superintendents Association National Conference in Nashville, Tennessee!

The National Superintendent of the Year program enables Americans to recognize and honor U.S. superintendents for the contributions they make every day advocating for public education, our nation’s children and our country’s future. Dr. Cain is the first Missouri superintendent to earn this honor.

"We are thrilled to have the top superintendent in the country take the helm of the Rockwood School District beginning July 1 and lead our great district going forward," shared Board of Education President Jaime Bayes. "Congratulations, Dr. Cain! We are happy for you, and we are happy for the staff, students and families of the Rockwood School District and look forward to celebrating with you very soon."

Last month, the Rockwood Board of Education unanimously selected Dr. Cain as Rockwood's next superintendent. He is currently the superintendent of Wentzville School District.

"I’m so proud of the work that superintendents are doing. We’re staying in the fight and keeping focused on kids because we’re here for all kids," Cain said after accepting the award. "I’m so honored to be able to represent that. At the end of the day, it’s not about me. It’s always going to be about kids. I couldn’t be more honored to not only represent AASA but, more specifically, what we’re doing in public schools across the nation.”
