How are people empowered, and why is empowerment important?

After reviewing multiple sources, "Empowerment is when an individual decides to fight for what they feel is right."

Conclusion

People are empowered by knowing and believing what is right. They decide to fight for it because they want to help. Empowerment is important because if people weren't empowered, we wouldn't know what the other people were thinking. This would be a problem because we could not be a democracy. People would keep their thoughts to themselves and wouldn't vote or think by themselves.
