Saint Andrew's Giving Community

Service Learning Day

In December the Saint Andrew's faculty and staff volunteered at Santa Maria Urban Ministries in San Jose. We packaged food donations, assisted in their nursery school, helped maintain their garden and sorted clothes donations. While at Santa Maria, we not only served others in our community, but also served the needs of the Saint Andrew's community, by coming together to work collaboratively for an important purpose.

How Our Brains Make Us Generous

Is it an innate human trait to help others? What if it just makes us feel good to give? Those questions have inspired a series of ground-breaking neuroscience studies conducted over the past several years by researchers Jamil Zaki, an assistant professor of psychology at Stanford University, and Jason Mitchell, an associate professor of the social sciences at Harvard University. Click on the button "The Greater Good Science Center- UC Berkeley" to read an article on work by these ground breaking researchers.

Saint Andrew's 5th Grade Giving All Stars

Parents from the 5th grade are the first to come together to achieve 100% Annual Fund giving so far this school year. Their heartfelt support for Saint Andrew's helps fund programs that are meaningful to students, such as the awesome 5th grade Science Camp. Ms. Koehler and Ms. Guengerich appreciate how programs such as Science Camp can deepen classroom knowledge for our students. Thank you 5th grade parents and Linda Golan, 5th grade Annual Fund Ambassador. You are making a difference for our school with your support for the Annual Fund. Let's encourage every grade to achieve 100% Annual Fund giving. If you haven't already, please make a gift or pledge now.

The Development Team

Nava Fathi serves as the Board of Trustees Development Committee Chair. Joanne Lee is the DIrector of Development + Alumni Relations. They work collaboratively to lead efforts to raise funds for Saint Andrew's Episcopal School. There are three giving opportunities at our school.

The Annual Fund is the school's highest giving priority. The Annual Fund supports 5% of our $9 million budget. Annual Fund gifts impact all programs, teachers and students. They are essential to sustain the quality and breadth of programs that our students benefit from every day.

The Saint Andrew's Spring Social, led by Parent's Association volunteers, is a festive evening of dinner, dancing and live and silent auction bidding. The proceeds from the Spring Social fund the Saint Andrew's Tuition Assistance Endowment as well as events such as the Harvest Festival, Book Fair, Grandfriend's Day and more.

Capital Campaigns invest in the future of Saint Andrew's. In 2016 we will launch a major capital campaign, Imagine the Possibilities, to expand our school to a ten acre campus through the acquisition of the three acre property next door.
