And, that's a wrap on HOCO 2015!

Homecoming has come and gone. Thank you to all the teachers who had a hand in making "HOCO 2015" a successful one. Don't forget the first nine weeks ends on Friday, October 16th. Please remember to communicate with parents about their child(ren) being in danger of failing, no surprises.

Did you know...

Bessie Hamilton Largent, Class of 1898, was the first woman ever to be a Major League Baseball scout. Mrs. Largent and her husband (also a McKinney graduate and former coach) scouted for the Chicago White Sox from 1926 -1944. She signed her first recruit in 1926 with right-handed pitcher George Cox, a McKinney High School stand out. In 1931, 16 of the 31 players on the ChiSox starting line–up were her prospects. Her most famous recruit was shortstop and future Hall of Famer, Luke Appling. Largent lived her entire life in the same house on North Church Street and is buried in Pecan Grove Cemetery.

I am not endorsing or suggesting anything, but this article struck a chord with me. If you want to know how much of a chord, ask me.

It's so hard to say goodbye

Reluctantly, I am announcing that Mrs. Kelsey Jessee will be leaving us at the end of the month to become a full-time mom to Baby Graham. Please come by at some point to wish her well in the next chapter of her life. If you know of anyone interested in being the principal's secretary, let me know. I would like to have someone in place within the next two weeks.
