Eastlake High School 7.21.19
Greetings from Eastlake High School
Welcome to the 2019-20 school year. I certainly hope you had a tremendous summer break with family and friends. Our staff has been working diligently this past week to prepare for the opening of the school year. I have been impressed by the quality of our certificated and classified staff. In all of our conversations, our foci revolved around providing our students with a great learning experience and building trust with our community. We heard from Al Joyner who used his experience as a gold medal winner at the 1984 Olympics to share insights about commitment. We heard from a student panel who opened our hearts about the challenges of being a teenager today and what we can do to build stronger relationships with them. We also heard from Stan Canaris (former principal) about the rich heritage and traditions of Eastlake High School. We hope to make you proud of our school and we encourage you to help make our traditions stronger by getting involved.
As you prepare for the first week of school, I ask that you be mindful of the following:
*Try to get here early on Monday. There will be a lot of traffic with first-year parents and students navigating the routines of Eastlake High School traffic and procedures. Remember - School starts at 7:45 this year and ends typically at 2:50. On Monday, school will end at 2:05. The school website has been updated with the new bell schedules and calendars. Search under the Calendar tab. You will also find the Week at a Glance (WAAG) which is updated every Sunday with important information for the week.
*Familiarize yourself with Jupiter grades to stay in contact with your student's teachers. This is an essential tool as partners. If you need help, please contact our administrative department.
*You can purchase spirit gear at the online store. Get into that Titan Spirit!
*August 13th will be the first Coffee with the Principal. We will send more information as we get closer to the date.
*Join the PTSA! Our PTSA is critical in providing our school with additional resources to make it an even better place for our students and community. In addition, they are simply an amazing group of people. I cannot say enough about their positive impact. You can also find the PTSA information under the Parents tab on our website.
*See the flyer below about Free Heart Screening for your teen. It can save a life.
All of our students are special. Encourage them to pursue their passions and to stay connected in a variety of extra-curricular school activities such as clubs, the arts and athletics. I truly believe there is something for everyone at our school. They can also create their own clubs if they like. Let's work together to make this a tremendous year for our students, staff and parents/guardians. Stay connected and informed. We are planning to have the updated student/parent handbook and school resources page updated after the first week of school as we balance out classes, round out our staffing needs and assign alphabet listings to our counselors and administrators. Never hesitate to contact me directly. Again, welcome to Eastlake High School. You are part of a great tradition of excellence in academics, athletics and the arts. Go Titans!
