Common Sense Education
Omaha Public Schools is continuing the work to ensure that every school and program in our district builds a strong foundation of digital citizenship and literacy for all staff and students. A very important program in this work is that of Common Sense Education. We are forging ahead with ensuring that every school is supported in becoming a Common Sense Digital Citizenship School. Last school year, 54 schools and programs were recognized as Common Sense Schools and they were recognized for their efforts in a September school board meeting. Congratulations to those schools recognized! Look out for communication on how your school can continue to earn this recognition year after year.
Omaha Public Schools Mobile Learning Unit
Omaha Public Schools Mobile Learning Unit was created to address issues of digital equity in the North Omaha area. Anchored on a powerful district vision and community partnerships, this innovative initiative targets high poverty neighborhoods and schools. The goal: to use a whole-community approach to bring high-technology learning and digital citizenship skills to students and their families. We want more than merely high-quality access and devices for our students - we want to build the knowledge and skills necessary to address the complex community challenges in today’s digital age. Every Student. Every Day. Prepared for Success.
