Newsletter Week 8 Term 4
Rotherham School 8 December 2022
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Kia ora koutou,
What a fantastic trip the Junior Room had to Hanmer last Thursday to visit the animal part and hot pools. We are very grateful to the Home and School who help fund these fun trips our students get to experience. A massive thank you to Mrs Howser for your great organisation and to Chantal and all the parent helps that went along to support their children.
This is the last newsletter of 2022 and I would like to thank everyone for their continued support and involvement, it has been another interesting year with very high absences and still many covid restrictions at the start of the year but we still managed to stay open.
We have had a great year focusing on 'Our Place, Our People' and learning about our local history and our community.
Thank you to all the staff, Board, parents and the Home & School for your amazing contribution and dedication to our fantastic school. It is this amazing team that truly makes it "The best little school in North Canterbury".
I would like to take this opportunity to farewell our wonderful Year 6 students who are leaving this year Paul, Kaleo and Ollie T. You have all been an integral part of Rotherham School and we hope your transition to Amuri School goes well. We are farewelling some families at the end of this year so thank you to Pete and Jules Wallace who have had a long association with the school, Megen Austin, Ben Boys and Lucas Collins and Lucre, Agustin and Santos Ballester. We wish you all the best on your new ventures.
I hope you all have a special Christmas with family and friends and get to have a very restful and relaxing summer holiday. We look forward to seeing you back in 2023.🎄🎅🏻

Top Team at Waiau School - Wednesday 14 December
Next Wednesday we will be leaving school at 12.15pm on the bus to go to Waiau School. We will be having lunch there then will be involved in some fun Top Team activities.
The children will be in groups mixed with Waiau School students and will rotate around different activities.
Could the children please bring a change of clothes as they do get wet!💦💦
End of Year Celebration - Thursday 15 December 10.00am
Next Thursday we are having our annual prizegiving at 10.00am on the tennis courts at school. (Rotherham Hall if wet). We are looking forward to welcoming all parents, whānau and community members to celebrate our achievements this year at Rotherham School.
This will be followed by a bouncy castle, Santa, BBQ lunch and a pool party if the weather permits. Thank you to the Home and School for organising this.
All students need to wear tidy school uniform and bring their togs and towel on this day.
Community Day
Thank you to all the parents and whānau who came along yesterday to hear our students share their learning on our inquiry topic of 'Our Place, Our People'. It was fantastic to see so many people here. The students have spent a long time doing their slideshows and they should be proud of what they shared about the history of Rotherham. A huge thanks to everyone who brought along delicious food for our shared lunch representing their culture and heritage, we even had food cooked in a hāngī.
