School Highlights
Be well, Barons!
This Monday's Wellness message, Dr. Del Rosario speaks with teacher, Ms. Jennifer Ekstein, on the topic of Mindful Meditation. Ms. Ekstein says it can be practiced anywhere and at anytime. Mindful medication makes you more aware of your body, helps with stress reduction and teaches techniques to help you with cognitive skills. It is a mental training practice that involves focusing your mind on your experiences (like your own emotions, thoughts, and sensations) in the present moment. Mindfulness meditation can involve breathing practice, mental imagery, awareness of body and mind, and muscle and body relaxation. We encourage you to try Mindful Meditation. Make sure to view the BVTV broadcastb for the Monday morning broadcast.

Gratitude
It is not happy people who are thankful. It is thankful people who are happy.
Wellness Wednesdays
The objectives of Wellness Wednesday are to encourage us to manage our mental wellness,
motivate us to express acts of kindness, and promote self-care. Our Wellness Wednesdays message will consist of a SELF-CARE tip, KINDNESS CHALLENGE, and an AFFECTIVE STATEMENT:
Self-care is crucial for our physical, emotional, and mental well-being. In order for us to be the best we can be for our students, parents, and staff, we have to take care of ourselves first.
- Kindness is very important in creating a sense of community and belonging. One small act of kindness can release an enormous chain of positive events. We hope our weekly challenge will encourage our entire SUHSD to “choose kindness.”
- Affective Statements connect individuals with how their behavior is “affecting” or impacting self or others. Using affective statements helps us to specify the behavior that we, or others, are exhibiting and encourage or discourage that behavior while improving or maintaining the relationship between individuals. Affective Statements usually take the following format: “I feel ______ when you ____ because______”
Today’s Wellness Wednesday Message:
SELF CARE:
Drink more water. The benefits are endless.
KINDNESS CHALLENGE:
Call/text a loved one you haven’t spoken to in a while.
AFFECTIVE STATEMENTS:
I am concerned about...
Be Well Barons!
