Updates for the week
I am more thankful than ever that we have the best teachers, students AND parents in the universe!
As I mentioned last week, starting next week, we will be beginning to teach new concepts in ELA and math so that students can end the year with the skills needed to be successful in the next grade. If your child gets frustrated, remind them to persevere and try their best. (Tell them Mrs. Howell said so!)
For parents of Kindergarten, First, and some Second grade students:
Starting next week, if your child's teacher has not been using Schoology to provide independent work, I have asked them to put extra practice into this platform. Our upper grade students all work regularly in Schoology and I wanted to give parents more options for practice activities once students have finished their normal classwork in SeeSaw, ClassTag, etc. Since your child has possibly never logged into Schoology, please watch the video below for instructions on how to go through Clever to login. Please wait until next week to do this as there may not be any materials in there yet!
Note about yearbooks
Parents can now access Second Step lessons on emotion management!
Second Step is the Social-Emotional Learning curriculum that Wilbur has used throughout this year. Educators and families can now access Second Step Emotion Management lessons for Grades Kâ5 on-demand, along with support materials for each lesson. All lessons are free (no login required) and feature Committee for Children staff, who also happen to be experienced teachers and counselors.
