Spring ISD/Houston Symphony 5th Grade Field Experience - Register by September 21st!
Spring ISD is excited to partner with the Houston Symphony and Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion for our annual field experience involving all 5th grade scholars in Spring ISD. Please see the attached documents:

All elementary campuses with Fifth Grade scholars must complete the on-line registration form no later than Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at http://www.woodlandscenter.org/education/events/fine-arts-day
Additionally, all elementary campuses must submit their bus requests at www.fieldtriprequest.com no later than Wednesday, September 21, 2022. Campuses will not be charged for buses -- the budget codes will be adjusted prior to trip departure.

Calling all Middle and High School Social Studies Teachers: GET READY for National History Day Fair
Algebra 1 Teachers! Join RAISE: Rice Algebra Initiative for Success and Equity
Rice University’s OpenStax is developing a new, interactive, digital, Algebra 1 curriculum resource for teachers, and we are seeking interested teachers to work with us. Your role would be to review the TEKS-aligned curriculum by using it in your classrooms next year, and providing feedback to support our continuous improvement model.
Be part of the development of a new Algebra 1 digital resource from the ground up and earn a stipend of up to $1000 or more plus free professional development and implementation support in appreciation of your time and expertise.
Join our Algebra 1 learning community with teachers from across the Houston area.

Performing and Visual Arts: Mandatory District Training Dates and Times for Teachers
Attached is the district-wide PLC calendar for the 2022-2023 school year for all Performing and Visual Arts teachers, directors, and coaches. All trainings are scheduled before or after the school day (or during conference time in the case of high school band) to eliminate the need for substitute teachers. Every effort has been made to avoid pulling staff members from instruction.

Lead4Ward Field Guide Access 2022-23 School Year
Lead4Ward Field Guides have been purchased for every campus. Logins are unique to each
staff member. Please follow the directions listed on the attached document. The Field Guides for Teachers succinctly organize the information teachers and PLCs need to effectively plan meaningful instruction for students and are available for: K-12 Reading Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies.

Middle School G/T Service Design
Participants will learn how to effectively implement the Middle School Service Design. The session will focus on the instructional components of the service design including Curriculum Unit Guides, Advanced Course Instructional Strategies, Advanced Course Instructional Models, and Depth and Complexity. NOTE: If you attended the Summer Leadership Institute (June or July 2022), please note these sessions are new learning and will provide time for teachers to plan differentiated lessons and activities for Cycle 1 and Cycle 2.

Differentiating for the G/T Learner: High School
The following will be covered during this time:
- AP Specific Instructional Technology - During this time teachers will be receiving an introduction to AP Classroom and Shmoop.
- Learning Module Moment - This time will be dedicated to the 90 minute block as well pacing for the AP exams.
- Depth & Complexity - How to incorporate Depth & Complexity in your everyday routine.
- Literacy Strategy- Our Literacy strategy for this cycle will be Turn and Talk.
- Luminary Leader Lesson- This celebrity status teacher will share a content specific best practice.
- Cohort Workshop- Teachers will be allotted time to work with their cross district counterparts.

Teachers who provide instruction to students identified as gifted and talented (G/T) are required to complete a 30-hour Foundational training in five areas:
