3rd Grade's Newsletter

May and June 2022

It is hard to believe this is the last full month of the school year! Students should continue to bring a sweatshirt or sweater for the classroom as the temperature in our classrooms can vary. Please remember to send your child with a water bottle each day.

Currently we are working on solving problems involving area. To solve these problems students will be using multiplication and division. Our next unit will be on exploring the relationship between area and perimeter, identifying and comparing the attributes of different shapes, and identifying and describing quadrilaterals. Please continue to practice math facts with your child at home. Your child should be practicing addition, subtraction, and multiplication facts.

Social Studies

We are still working on our first Social Studies unit “Why do industries differ across the state of Maryland?” Our next unit will be a service learning project about Caroline County.

English Language Arts (ELA)

Currently we are reading the novel Peter Pan. The novel is a retold story of the classic by J.M. Barrie. During this unit students will be introduced to the exciting story about Peter Pan, Captain Hook, Tinker Bell, Wendy, the Lost Boys, Michael and John.
