Low Country elite strongly supported the Federalists, they mostly supported the States debt assumptions because most the the war was fought in the states. Feds did not support the National Bank because, they argued with Congress that the authority of making all laws were "necessary & proper. The power of the central (national) government wasn't supported by the Federalists. The Democratic-Republicans and the Feds both disagreed on the foreign policy. Feds passed the Alien & Sedition Acts, which were designed to silence and weaken the D-RP and newspapers. They went to with Britain in 1812, which brought a new surge of nationalism ( a feeling of being loyal to their country.)
