Colts,
Can you believe that the first month of 2018 has already come and gone!? It was a very busy month around CMS. This week began with our students going to their new clubs during advisory! We had everything from chess, cross-stitching, and gardening to dance, volleyball, and ultimate Frisbee. Giving our students time throughout the month to decompress and enjoy a club of their choice helps them to take a mental break from the demands of the school day. Our clubs have been a huge success around campus and we look forward to continuing to find time for our students to enjoy Club Days during Advisory period.
Our Fine Arts season is also in full swing as our band, choir, and theater students are busy with practices and events. In athletics, our Stars Dance Team and cheer squads continue to work their craft, highlighted by the cheer competition this past weekend at the NCA Nationals event. Tennis season is right around the corner and our basketball programs continue to see improvement with both the boys and the girls. The entire boys 7th/8th grade basketball program has won its last 21 of 23 games since returning from the break!
We have so much to celebrate at CMS. I hope you have a great weekend!

CMS Student Voice
Carson Jach, 7th grade
It has been a great year at CMS. I have been recognized to participate in leadership opportunities like the leadership meeting (CEC) this week. Since I have been in elementary, I have always tried to get into leadership roles and it has been nice to be recognized here. I look up to people like Arjun Gazulapalli (CMS 8th Grade) who was also in the leadership meeting because of the example he is and was in math class last year. He is a fellow CMS student that motivates me to want to be better and succeed.
Academics at CMS has been great because of the people that want to help me succeed. I want to be an orthopedic surgeon when I get older so math and science is important. Mrs. Spaeny (CMS Science teacher) has nurtured my passion for science and has made me want to pursue my career goals even more. It has been a fun year at CMS!

8th Grade:
Counselors worked with 8th graders January 25th & 26th helping them select their endorsement and enter courses for 9th grade. Students use their unique Skyward log in to enter courses. Students have until February 14th to enter courses; high school counselors will be here on February 7th to verify courses with students. Parents will need to go into Skyward (using their parent log in, not student’s) to sign off on their student’s endorsement selection. Once parents sign off, the endorsement cannot be changed in Skyward. To get it changed, student will need to meet with their high school counselor. Attached is the 9th grade course sheet.
