The trial and conviction of the Rosenbergs gave a very real example of the types of espionage Americans feared during the Cold War and increased American concerns about the Reds.
America enjoyed its highest standard of living ever- about 60% of people owned houses. Many people, especially whites, moved to the suburbs.
Elvis Presley ushered in the new fad of the younger generation, rock and roll. This young man scandalized the older generation and was known as Elvis the Pelvis among some critics.
Many GIs fit back into civilian life fairly well in the aftermath of the war, taking their jobs back from the women who then went to become housewives. Many ex-GIs also benefited from the GI Bill and went to college or took out loans for farms/houses.
The Nuremberg Trials helped to finally put the turmoil and devastation of the war to rest. However, there was some general skepticism over the haziness of the convictions. Many leading Nazis were left out of the trials after escaping to South America.
