Parent/Teacher Conferences!
February 17, 2020
These are the last conferences for this 2019-20 school year! This is your opportunity to discuss any concerns you may have about your child's academics. You will be receiving information home from your child's teacher very soon so make sure to check backpacks and respond back to your child's teacher immediately. An email and connect-ed message will be sent as well as information posted on our school website and Snowshoe Facebook page as alternate resources for getting updates and information. Please check back regularly.
Be Prepared for Teacher Conferences
We want you to have a successful parent/teacher conference on February 17th. First on the list: Show up, please! We know parents are busy, but it is important to carve out time to invest in your child’s education and ensure success at school. To get the most out of parent-teacher conferences, parents need to take an active role in their child’s education year-round and come prepared to discuss how their child can reach their full potential.
Below are a few tips on how to prepare ahead of time:
- Ask questions about the school’s programs or policies.
- Are there things you can share with the teacher about your child and his life at home?
- What are my child’s strengths and weakness?
- How does my child get along with classmates?
- Is my child working up to her ability? Where could she use improvement?
- And most importantly, what can we do at home to support what you are doing in the classroom?
These are all great conversation starters and teachers really do want your feedback and questions. We hope to see you on February 17th!
Outdoor Recess Policy
Our nurse does not have enough warm gear for everyone so we need your help in making sure your child/children have what they need packed and ready to go every day before school. Children this age need constant reminders and we would appreciate your attention to this matter.
If you need to talk with our school nurse, please call 352-9533. Spring is right around the corner... we hope. Thank you!
COMING SOON: ARCTIC DOGS
MOVIE NIGHT is a great family event and our KDG team is ready to host and entertain you with this delightful movie! If you pre-ordered your pizza meal deal, these will be ready for pickup and there will be some concessions for sale that evening. Bring your favorite pillow or blanket to snuggle up on and we hope to see you at the movies!

SPRING PICTURES!
FEBRUARY 11TH - ALL DAY
Students will be photographed individually for portrait packets. These do not need to be purchased ahead of time. You will have the option to view the spring packet before purchasing them.
However, class pictures do need to be paid for ahead of time. Envelopes will be sent home and should be returned on picture day for the Lifetouch representative. Classes have been scheduled for individual times based on recess and lunch schedules.
If students are late during the day, they may get their individual pictures taken, however if their class has already been through the picture line we will be unable to have a new class picture taken to include them due to time constraints.
SCHOOL DISMISSAL MANAGER
Changing & Scheduling Afternoon Pickup Transportation
We have been using the School Dismissal app for several years now to slowly ease parents into taking responsibility for their child's afternoon transportation. However, due to an increase in phone calls during the busiest time of the day we are now going to be requiring parents to use the app when making changes to pickup.
School Dismissal Manager has a simple phone app for Android and iPhone which allows parents to specify dismissal instructions in seconds. It's actually very user friendly and easier to do than on a computer. Everyone has a cell phone handy when out and about and it's so easy to make the change for your child when it's right at your finger tips. Please make sure these changes are made by 3:00 pm.
Many of our district schools have also been using SDM for years and it's time for a complete transition here at Snowshoe. In the future, phone calls to the office for bus or pickup changes will include helping you to get set up on SDM if you do not have a login. If you have not ever used SDM, it's as simple as sending you an email to register and create an account.
We have nearly 400 students every day that all take different forms of transportation. You can help us by handling your own child's transportation right at the click of your hands. Remembering to either write a note(s) or make a call to the school when dismissal plans change for your child doesn’t have to be a burden anymore. A few clicks in SDM on your phone or tablet, and you're done.
It's Not our Policy to Call Students Out Early...
We're sorry for the inconvenience this may cause, but the disruption and congestion this caused in our front lobby was getting out of control. Please plan on picking your children up a few minutes earlier for appointments. Thank you.
