Wolverine Weekly Bulletin
Preparing for the first day of school Thursday Aug 11th
Welcome Back!
Hello Sierra Ridge families! I would like to introduce myself. I am Jeremy Ogzewalla and am honored to be the new Principal of Sierra Ridge Middle School. Our family moved to California in the summer of 2000 and quickly identified El Dorado county and specifically Pollock Pines as the place to raise our children. All three attended Pinewood and Sierra Ridge. My wife and I have been involved with Sierra Ridge and Pinewood in several capacities over the years. We have enjoyed the friendships that have been built over time and my children were well served by both schools and staff. Our family loves this area and the community. I am looking forward to supporting your children and continuing the schools' traditions and its pursuit of excellence in education. I have been an educator for the last 25 years and have a passion for being a positive adult mentor for youth. We are blessed to live in such a beautiful area with quality people. I look forward to getting to know and serving you.

Class schedules posted next week
As we finalize the student schedules an email will go out Wednesday (8/10) regarding the posting of the schedules on the front doors of the school. Families are welcome to come by (generally after 4pm) and see the home room for their student. Students will receive their full schedules on the first day of school from their homeroom teachers, along with a few important documents that will need to be reviewed by parents & returned. Many of our processes have gone paperless and throughout this email you will see reference to useful links & documents that will assist you in a successful partnership for your students upcoming school year.

Boys & Girls Club After School
Our Boys & Girls Club fills up fast if you are in need of care after school. Please go to http://www.bgce.org/pollockpines to sign your student up. If you are applying for a scholarship, make sure to fill out the "Free & Reduced Application" near the Food Resources of this bulletin from the District Office.
Procedures are Paperless
Please make sure that you have an accurate e-mail on file & check our website for events throughout the year. Communications from our district will be going out using the "All-Call" system and many documents are now on line or in Aeries. We have whittled our first day packets down to only a few papers that will need to be returned, those will be passed out the first day of school.
Cafeteria Menus & Resources
Cafeteria meals continue to be free for students. The funding for this program is allocated by families returning the "Free & Reduced" application below. This form is required if applying for free or reduced fees for transportation services.
Aeries Access and login instructions
For those of you returning or coming to us from Pinewood you may already have an account with Aeries. A letter with instructions for logging into Aeries will go home with your student on the first day of school. Your specific access information will be on a sticker on that letter. We ask you please be patient and wait to get this information on the first day of school. Our staff will not be able to provide until August 11th. Schedules for individual students are being finalized over these next few work days. Things are coming together for all our students and we anticipate a smooth start-up in just a week.
Nurse Corner
Parents, if your student will be administering medication during school hours we require a signed statement from the medical provider at the start of each new school year. Please get in touch with Danna the school nurse for more information. ddepuglia@ppesd.org
Drop off and Pick up
There are many parents who drive their children to and from school. In order to make the morning drop-off and pick up as timely and safe as possible, please allow extra time for the inevitable traffic entering the school grounds. Parents should not drop a student off before 8:15am, as there is no supervision before that time. Please drive slowly and cautiously through the parking lot and follow the directions of the crossing guards and mindful of the students walking to the Emigrant trail buildings. Please DO NOT drop your student off in the bus circle. This area is for BUSES ONLY. Please pick up or drop off students at the school curb. Do not park or pick-up students where curbs are painted red, these are fire lanes that must remain clear. Students should have backpacks ready and exit as quickly as possible.
Sports will start as we return
A sports physical will need to be on file with the school to participate in Football, Girls Volleyball or Cross Country. The form can be found on the District website at https://www.ppesd.org/Forms.
