Virtually Unstoppable
Sept. 8-11
Welcome back!
As we prepare to tackle this school year, a colleague recently reminded me of a scene from the movie Creed https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ivI67hRJGmg
One step at a time, one punch at a time, one round at a time......
Helping to narrow our focus each day can feel less overwhelming. Teaching is your Superpower and Mrs. Thelemaque and I are here to support you.

What Ant-Racist Teachers do Differently
Opening Day Procedures
WD- 8:30
TJ- 8:40
*You may want to give yourself ample time to park before parents enter the parking lot
In the morning you will receive a class list indicating your students' dismissal procedure: bus, pick up or walker. Please confirm with your students and return the list to the office by 10:30 a.m. with any questions. For dismissal, please have your students wear a name tag indicating their bus number.
Remember to submit your students' attendance by 9:15 a.m.
Staff Attendance (Updated Procedures)
Attendance procedures have changed. The COVID-19 screener and your attendance will be recorded on the same form. You will get an email every morning with a link to the form. Please fill it out before entering the building. Here are some very important rules:
- Please record your MSDK12 email, not your personal email
- Be accurate when entering the date in which you are filling out the form (MM/DD/YYYY)
- When entering the classrooms you will be visiting, please follow these instructions:
- Do not use commas to separate rooms visited, just spaces. For example "101 102 auditorium" not "101, 102, auditorium"
- All data in this field should be entered in lowercase letters
- Rooms with numbers - list only the room number. Do not type "Room" or "Class" before the number
- Rooms without numbers - please enter the name of the room. See below for all acceptable entries (all rooms will be labeled)
- auditorium
- staff room
- main office
- bathroom a b c etc...
- gym
- bookroom
- The more thorough you are with entering the rooms you visited, the more protected you will be if there is a confirmed case. You will be able to re-submit a form if you need to add any rooms visited, but please inform me if you do so.
- If you are taking a sick day, you will still have to fill this screener out.
- Anyone traveling to other sites, a hard copy will be available to complete
Technology
Chromebooks-the ultimate goal tomorrow (tech wise) is to get every student a chromebook and logged in successfully. This will take longer than you think! CB deployment instructions that were shared with your building representative(s) can be accessed in this folder. It is imperative they are followed or students in 3-5 will not be in GoGuardian. If you had students new to the district and enrolled this or last week, please be patient, their emails are not created overnight as there is a process and we are trying to get it done as fast as we can. The first line of defense for any chromebook/tech issue in your building is your media specialists and/or teachers on special assignment that attended the training.
By the end of this week students should be able to
Login
Access and navigate their google classroom, Clever, and access Google Meet.
Food Service
The Federal Department of Agriculture has extended waivers that will allow us to serve ALL students for FREE through December 31, 2020.
Daily, the home room teacher should take a tally of how many students in the class would like a FREE meal, breakfast and lunch and notify the kitchen. Food service staff will deliver the requested number of meals to the classroom, approximately 15 minutes, before the end of the day and the teacher or aide in the class should hand it out.
Student Safety Videos
The 5 minute preK-5 student safety videos were created by the CDC. Please share with your students on the first day of school.
