St. Stan Star

From the Principal's desk

Be strong and take heart, all who hope in the Lord. Psalm 31:25

Happy feast of St. Nicholas! It is beginning to look a lot like Christmas! The children are feeling the excitement of Christmas. We continue to celebrate the season of Advent with different activities.

St. Stanislaus Christmas Concert is Friday, Dec. 8 at 1:00 p.m. and there will be a repeat performance on Sunday, Dec. 10 at 4:00 p.m. Both concerts are held in the school gym. We look forward to celebrating this wonderful season with children and music. Feel free to come to either or both performances.

The Spanish Club is sponsoring a special mass on the Feast of Our Lady Guadalupe, Tuesday, Dec. 12 at 2:00 p.m. All classes are invited to attend. Parishioners and family members are also invited to attend.

Water bottles at school. Back in September a note was put in the Star regarding the distraction of water bottles at school. Last Friday, Dec. 1, Fr. Medina visited each classroom and spoke to the students about bathrooms and water bottles. He would like to include this note today:

“The decision to not allow water bottles in the classroom is one of great concern. It is for the health and well-being of our students that this practice needs to cease. We have had many “bathroom” problems caused by the constant drinking of water and loss of class time by going, refilling bottles, spilling them and wasting time for many “breaks” that it seems very simple to get a drink on break/recess/lunch and most drinking fountains are very close to the classroom that is ceases any problems. Too many go to the restroom and misuse toilet paper, towels, clogging stools, and simply not using the stools properly that this will cease the sanitation problems that continue when many congregate in the restroom.” Direct any questions regarding this situation to Fr. Medina.

As a Christmas “gift”, students and staff are invited to attend the movie, Star, on Dec. 14 at 9:30 a.m. at the theater in Jefferson City. The school will be sending home permission slips early next week. Buses have been arranged for transportation. We will return to school around lunch time. NCEA (The National Catholic Educational Association) is promoting this first time full length animated film about the nativity. It should be a fun field trip.

Just a reminder that school dismisses at 1:00 p.m. on Thurs. Dec. 21. There is no After School Care on that day. School will not be in session from Dec. 22, 2017 to Jan. 2, 2018. Classes resume again on Wed. Jan. 3.

May the blessings of God our Father and His son Jesus Christ fill you with hope.
