FROM JANET WININGER, SPES DEAN OF STUDENTS:
Please be reminded of the SPES Attendance Policy found on page 19 of the Parent-Student Handbook: "Students are mandated to attend school (State Attendance Policy, Bulletin 741). Any student absence, WHETHER EXCUSED OR UNEXCUSED counts toward attendance. Students who exceed the total absences set by the State of Louisiana will not be promoted due to insufficient attendance. Rare exceptions can only be made for special extenuating circumstances as stated in Bulletin 741 and as approved by the principal. Any student accumulating fifteen (15) absences/tardies or more by April 30th may not be eligible to return to SPES. Any registration fees paid will be forfeited." Please make all efforts to assure that your child(ren) attends school daily and he/she arrives before the tardy bell. If you have any questions about absences, tardies and/or this policy, please do not hesitate to contact me via e-mail at janet_wininger@stpiuselementary.org .
