Harris Weekly Update
MAY 24-MAY 27
Thurs, 5/27: Last Day Of School, Students Dismissed @ 11:55 AM.
Harris Community:
I wanted to take this opportunity, in the last newsletter for the year, to sincerely thank each and everyone of you for the support offered during this truly unprecedented school year. I have been in education for almost 30 years and thought I had seen it all, I couldn’t have been more incorrect. Covid, itself, brought social distancing, masks, and a sense of uncertainty for the future. We all become hyper aware of a “new” reality.
In spite of all the changes, challenges, and frustrations I was able to see and experience something truly extraordinary and amazing. Students, teachers, instructional assistants, custodians, and most importantly parents all adapted to this new change. We came together as a group and pulled through probably one of the most difficult school years ever. Parents, students, and the Harris community worked together in an effort to ensure our students were successful.
The 2020-2021 school year is definitely one that we will NEVER forget! It wasn’t easy but in the end we all played a role in the overall success of all Harris students. I am proud to say that WE all worked very hard to ensure that Harris’ mission statement of “Whatever it Takes!” was accomplished, so a huge THANK YOU to everyone!
As we approach the next school year I am excited to announce that the building will be painted and new lighting installed on the outside, as well as all new flooring inside. You may have already seen some of the additions to the school with the new Harris sign, Hawk (thanks Student Council), benches, and waste containers. I am excited that Harris Elementary will have all of these new fresh changes to welcome in the brand new 2021-2022 school year.
Please plan on attending “Meet the Teacher” nights coming soon, I will email the dates soon.
Thanks to all for an outstanding year. Together we can accomplish anything….”Whatever it Takes!”
-Bill

What Does It Mean To Be A Title I School?
Title I is the largest federal aid program for public schools. Schools can be designated as “Title I” if certain criteria are met. Title I is the federal government’s commitment to closing the achievement gap between low-income and moderate to high income students. These funds are used to help all students meet academic standards. Click the links below to learn more!
