Thank a Teacher for Teacher Appreciation Week
Teacher Appreciation Week is May 6 - 10, and that means the Thank a Teacher campaign is in full swing. The Virginia PTA is partnering with the Virginia Lottery again this year to encourage parents, students and the public to send thank-you notes to their teachers.
You can send digital thank-you notes now at www.thankateacherva.com!
The notes will be sent the week of May 6-10, and you will receive confirmation when your email has been sent. Teachers who receive a thank-you note can enter for a chance to win one of two Virginia vacation packages courtesy of the Virginia Tourism Corporation. All PTA's that participate will receive Virginia Lottery Scratchers along with their notecards.

Join IWCS for Community Open House Days at the Land Lab, Career Building, and JROTC Fieldhouse
Isle of Wight County Schools will be hosting two Community Open House events to showcase some of our Career and Technology Education (CTE) programs.
The first Open House is scheduled for Wednesday, May 8, at the Agricultural Land Lab from 5:00--6:30pm. Guests will be able to visit with the animals on the farm and see how the students care for goats, chickens, pigs, rabbits, cows and a donkey. The students will conduct demonstrations throughout the evening.
The second event will be Wednesday, May 15, at Smithfield High School from 5:00--6:30pm. Guests will be able to tour programs in the Career Building (Welding, Nursing, Culinary Arts, Manufacturing, Engineering), enjoy refreshments in the student-run restaurant Turner & 10 (named for the intersecting roads), and see the JROTC fieldhouse, one of the projects funded by Smithfield Foods' $3 million dollar donation.
We hope you will be able to join us for both events. And tell your family and friends, too!
