6th Grade Information - August 5, 2021

Dear Incoming 2021-2022 6th Grade Parents and Guardians,

The time has come! Your child's middle school adventure is about to officially begin! Our sixth-grade orientation is Friday, August 13th. On the orientation sign-up form, we mentioned that additional details regarding safety protocols would be shared closer to the event. That said, please review the information below for details on how orientation will work. Additional health department guidance is linked here in Dr. Bein's email on 8/4/21.

Students should attend on FRIDAY, AUGUST 13th during the assigned homeroom times:

8:00-8:45 AM - Homerooms 6-1, 6-2, 6-3, 6-4

9:00-9:45 AM - Homerooms 6-5, 6-6, 6-7, 6-8

10:00-10:45 AM - Homerooms 6-9, 6-10, 6-11, 6-12

Masks are required for ALL individuals attending this event and 3 feet distancing will be encouraged for all participants throughout the event.

RSVP: If you have not shared your RSVP yet, no worries, please RSVP HERE. If you need to change your RSVP or have questions, please complete the form again.

Can't make it? No worries, we will post the presentation on our website following this event. Plus, STEP 5 of the transition process includes time to walk the building on the first day of school during Back to School Night. More information will be shared on that event soon.

Students can walk or ride bikes to TMS, however crossing guards will not be available. Bike racks are available near door #9. Students can also be dropped off and picked up using the Arlington Heights/Thomas Street parking lot which hosts the TMS 6th grade morning arrivals during the school year.
Alpha Students - Thomas Street Door #9
Beta Students - LMC Door #8

Since we are hosting three groups in a row, students will be dismissed via the TMS main entrance. Please use the Belmont Street pick-up line and Belmont Street parking lot line to pick-up your child from this event. Please do not exit your car or park in the parking lot. We will try to help the pick-up line move quickly and ask that you be patient during the pick-up process.

NEW EVENT...Kickin' With the Cops: Please check out the Kickin' With the Cops information below. This event is sponsored by the AH Police Department and our School Resource Officer, Danny Malik, and is open to the first 160 sixth-grade applicants.

We can't wait to see your middle schoolers next week! Thank you for sharing them with us!

Take care,

Lori, Nick, & Greg

Kickin' With the Cops

I wanted to share an event the Arlington Heights Police Department is organizing. This event is replacing the annual "Rockin' With the Cops". Unfortunately, due to Covid we were unable to host the event for the 2021 5th grade students, but we definitely did not forget about them.

I am happy to announce on September 10th we will be hosting "Kickin' With the Cops". This event is open to all incoming Arlington Heights 6th grade students (2021-2022).

The goal of this event is to celebrate the students' academic achievements prior to entering middle school and have a fun night of positive interactions with officers from the Arlington Heights Police Department.

The flyer below contains information on how parents can register their children. Please help us in spreading the word for this event and help make it a night the kids will remember.

As always if there are any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to me.

Thank you,

Officer Danny Malik
