Sneak Peek of the Week Ahead

WEEKLY THEME: You've Gotta Have a HEART!

What a great week to express our "heart-felt" love to our families and friends! Several Valentine books will be enjoyed. We will write our own extension of Guess How Much I Love You? If you are not familiar with this book, I suggest that you check it out. No matter how much the Little Hare tries to express love to Big Nut Brown Hare, the greater depth of a parent's love is expressed so beautifully by Big Nut Brown Hare. Isn't that the way it is when we try to understand how much God loves us? His love is beyond description but that certainly does not keep us from experiencing His love!

The mystery box will again contain an item that requires good questioning and an awareness of attributes. Our estimating skills will be sharpened by guessing and checking the number of candy hearts in a bag and estimating and counting how much string is needed to go around a certain heart.

This last semester we will continue to work on math facts (both addition and subtraction). We will do this is a variety of ways—hands on with manipulatives, using ten frames, learning to compose and decompose numbers (through the teens but concentrating on the number 10, and begin to use number bonds. Many of these terms may seem unfamiliar to you but as we progress, their meaning will be come clear.

TO DO List:

Thursday 2/11

Valentine Party

We will make Valentine holders at school. Children may bring in Valentine cards on Wednesday or Thursday. Cards need to be signed but class names can be printed on the front of the cards or left off. Children will put Valentines in their friends bags so addressing the cards can go either way.

We Had a BLAST celebrating 100 Days of School

Dear Families,

February 9th and 10th, I will be participating in the KDI testing for incoming students next year. I will be in the building but not in the classroom. Mrs. Everett will be in the classroom on both of those days. I will check email both before and after school if you need to reach me.

These are busy days. Please let me know how I can be of any help.
