MEET THE WINE GUYS.....
PETER WRIGHT: OUR SOMMELIER
For those of you who don't know me, I'm Peter Wright. I was born and raised in San Diego. My parents, Tammy and Orville, had their hands full raising 3 rambunctious boys. My older brother, Nick, joined the Air Force right out of high school and has 2 kids: my niece, AJ, and my nephew, Ethan. My younger brother, Matt, went to college at Cal Poly Pomona and is getting married in September in Temecula.
Growing up, I always knew that I wanted to be in a profession that allowed me to work with people. A few years ago I watched a Netflix special called "Somm" and I was instantly hooked on the concept of blind tasting. It was my first introduction into what a Sommelier is and what one could do within the profession.
Last year my fiance and I went to Reims, France (Champagne country) and toured several wineries. I fell in love with the traditional methods of making wine. Spending time in the cellars in Reims showed me the amount of time, effort and heart that goes into the process. After returning from France, I applied at Mission Cellars and have been welcomed into the family. I love being able to pair our wines with the local cuisine. Currently, I have completed my introductory course through The Court of Master Sommelier. I'm looking forward to continuing my journey and bringing the knowledge I have learned to our customers.
LLOYD ROBERTS: OUR SALES, MARKETING AND SOCIAL MEDIA GUY
The newest member of our Mission Cellars team is Lloyd Roberts. He was born and raised in San Diego and lived in Minneapolis for a while. He returned to San Diego in 2005 and is glad to be back home.
Lloyd grew up in the Clairemont area and attended Clairemont High, Mesa College and SDSU. His career was in Sales and Marketing in electronic components. After retiring, he went to work for Salerno Winery in Ramona as the General Manager for a couple years. Then he spent 4 years working at the Bernardo Winery in the tasting room, doing private events and giving tours of the facilities.
Lloyd loves gardening, spending time with his family and, of course, wine. He was married to his wife, Sue, 3 years ago this month. They enjoy traveling, cooking together and relaxing on the patio with a glass of their favorite wine (Mission Cellars Petite Sirah).
Lloyd joined Mission Cellars back in March 2020, a few weeks before everything was shut down for the Covid 19 Virus. After the winery reopened, Lloyd started working on Tuesday’s and Sunday’s where many of you have seen him pouring wine and greeting customers. He also takes care of the Social Media for us. We’re glad to have him on our team. Welcome aboard Lloyd.
