From the Desk of Nurse Gage
When your child is not feeling well- their body is actively trying to fight off the virus/bacteria illness. This takes a toll on their body and their immune system. During this important time of healing for the body- they are more susceptible to other illnesses as well as a delay in healing. The best recommendation- if your child is not feeling well- it is best to remain home, drink extra fluids, rest/sleep and return to school when symptoms improve and feel better to manage an active day at school.

Holiday Help
This year we are pleased to once again offer our families Holiday Support through our "Sponsor a Snowman" program. Each Snowman represents one Dicken student and a list of three items to be purchased, an article of clothing, a book and a fun item such as a board game, a doll etc., we ask that no single item exceed $25.
This year Parents are able to come in the building and pick a Snowman from the office bulletin board as in years past. If you are unable to come in person to pick one, please contact Mrs. Dorris by email or phone and we can send one home in your child’s backpack. Snowmen should be available for pick up the week after our Thanksgiving break. dorris@aaps.k12.mi.us or 734-994-1928
We ask that all presents be brought to the office unwrapped with the Snowman attached no later than December 15.
Thank you as always for supporting our Dicken families!

Message from the PTO President
Thanks to the generous support of our Dicken families and sponsors, we raised more money from the Dicken Dash than we had budgeted for! We're very happy to say that the PTO has voted to use some of that money to help start up a support program for our Dicken community. Our first steps will be to provide seasonal outerwear for students who need warm clothing for this coming winter. If this would be a helpful resource for your family, please reach out to the Dicken office staff. In addition, we will be providing waterproof winter gloves to each classroom, so that kids who forget gloves on any given day can borrow a pair for recess, and stay warm while enjoying their break!
