A Note from Mrs. Dado
We have much to be grateful for here at Eisenhower. We have a wonderful, caring staff from our custodial team, office crew, food service team, paraprofessionals and all of our teachers. I am grateful each and every day for the opportunity to work with them and I know your children are in good hands. We have supportive parents and community, and a giving and engaged PTO at the forefront, to which we all say thank you for all that you do to make Ike the best school that it can be. And last, but certainly not least, we have incredible students who challenge themselves every day to learn and grow as well as challenge us to become better people. They are the reason we are here each day.
With much gratitude,
Mrs. Calli Dado
RED STATUS INFORMATION
A Note from Dr. Terrill - Change to RED Status
Dear Crown Point Parents and Guardians,
I would like to share an important update regarding COVID-19 in our district. Over the next two weeks, Crown Point Community School Corporation will make changes to our learning status.
- Beginning Wednesday, November 11, and continuing through Wednesday, December 2, all secondary schools will move to “red” status. This includes Crown Point High School, and Wheeler and Taft Middle Schools. Red status means all learning will take place virtually.
- Beginning Monday, November 16, all Crown Point elementary schools will move to “red” status through Wednesday, December 2. Elementary schools will stay at green status next week (November 9-13).
The rationale for a move to red, and the delay for elementary, includes:
Adequately staffing schools for in-person learners has become difficult due to the number of staff quarantines. Temporarily moving to red is reset that provides time for both students and staff to finish quarantining. At this time, a switch to yellow would not alleviate our staffing issues.
When the high school moves to red on Wednesday, we will be able to use support staff and substitutes from the high school to staff our elementary schools for the remainder of next week.
Elementary schools will be delayed in their move to red so that families have more time to plan for childcare needs. It also gives elementary teachers more time to prepare our youngest students for virtual learning by practicing with technology and talking about how virtual learning will work.
We will remain in red status for three days after Thanksgiving break, which provides a window before students return to our buildings after the holiday weekend. We believe families may have a better idea of whether they were exposed to COVID over the holiday break (and are therefore a close contact who must quarantine) during this 3-day window.
Next week, we will update the procedures and expectations for virtual learning in red status. Please keep an eye out for this important information. Virtual learning in “red” will be different from the stay-at-home order last Spring.
I want to thank our school nurses for their diligent efforts in thorough and accurate contact tracing. I also want to thank our teachers, administrators, and support staff for their hard work and dedication.
Later next week we will share more detailed information regarding our plans for instruction when we return on December 3rd. You can also find a new COVID FAQ guide on our website.
Thank you for your understanding and patience as we continue to navigate this school year.
Sincerely,
Dr. Todd Terrill, Superintendent
