Fulton Focus
For the parents and patrons of the Fulton School District
March 23, 2018
A message from the Superintendent
Dear Parents and Patrons,
Last Saturday evening, the Fulton Public Schools Foundation honored four graduates as their initial Foundation Hall of Fame Honorees. Included were: Byron S. Bagby, 1974; William (Bill) F. Baker, 1971, Milia Islam-Majeed, 1977, and Jerry D. Kennett, 1965. Each has made significant contributions to their profession and strongly credit Fulton Schools and Callaway County for their success. In addition, this year alone, the Foundation has contributed about $16,000 to support classroom grants, FHS Academic Week, and band instruments. We are grateful for the Foundation’s support recognizing academics in the district.
The annual school bus inspection took place on March 14, 2018. The initial bus inspection resulted in an 88% passage rate. However, no buses were designated ‘out of service’ and all passed prior to inspectors leaving the facility. The following list details the bus failures.
· Fire Extinguisher was out of charge.
· Exhaust leak behind muffler at the hanger.
· Window buzzer did not work properly.
· Power steering fluid low.
Obviously, we strive for perfect buses; however, all major systems passed a rigorous inspection and are safe for your students.
Upon students returning from Spring Break Tuesday, April 3, 2018, there will be about seven weeks of school remaining. Soon after returning to school your students will be participating in statewide testing. Please prepare your student(s) for testing with appropriate sleep and good nutrition. Please check your building’s newsletter for testing days and periods.
At this point in time, we have had a good school year, help us finish strong!
Thank you for sending great kids to work with!
Sincerely,
Jacque A. Cowherd, Ed.D.
