PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
For many of us, September signaled the start of the school when growing up. But as calendars have shifted over the years, today we find ourselves finishing day 16 of the 2021-2022 school year. In the past sixteen days, classroom communities have flourished and students have become comfortable with the new/old routines that are a part of a full day on campus.
I want to take a few moments to remind you of the importance of children arriving to class on time. Many of our teachers start their day at 8:15 with class meetings or a preview of what will be happening. This allows students time to transition between the rush of getting out of the house (we can all share stories about these challenges) and into the routines of the classroom. This is the first step towards a positive and productive day.
Unfortunately, as we are closing the gates in the morning, we're seeing an increasing number of students who are rushing to campus after the final bell. We really want to see children at their classroom by 8:15, so that they can participate in the important morning routines. When students arrive late, they need to visit the office, allowing us to update attendance records (so that we know who is on campus), further delaying arrival to the classroom.
I want to encourage you to give your child the gift of time. Consider leaving home a few minutes earlier in the morning. Use the extra time to park a few blocks from school (avoiding the traffic congestion) and walk together. Or think about sharing a book in the morning. Get to school early and find a parking spot on the street, then read a daily chapter from a favorite book. I promise - you'll look back at this time together with fond memories.
Thank you for continuing to be an important partner in the bridge between school and home. We appreciate your support.
All the best,
Cathy Bailey

IMPORTANT: Traffic Changes
Beginning tomorrow, September 2nd, you will not be able to make a lefthand turn from Blossom Valley into the parking lot. Please plan ahead by entering from Westchester or parking on a side street and walking the final block or two to school.
