We are entering a busy time of year here at Rasor. Our 5th Graders our off to Adventure Camp next week, and we are excited for them to learn and have fun at such a great place. Check us out of Facebook for current pictures of the happenings at camp. Search "Rasorrockets"

Here on campus, our classrooms are buzzing with high levels of thinking as our students immerse themselves in reading, math, science, and social studies concepts. Student artwork lines our main hallway, and our students are creating beautiful things! PE is always an exciting place where kids are smiling and enjoying physical activity as well as teamwork. Our music teacher is loving teaching music concepts with each grade level, and she can even be seen at the piano playing beautiful music during breakfast! We really are doing great things here at Rasor, and we thank you for partnering with us in growing children to become lifelong learners.

Reminder about dismissal:

  • If there is a change in dismissal (how a student goes home), please send a written note with a parent signature. While we understand emergencies come up through out the day, last minute changes or constantly changing needs to be kept at a minimal.

Do you have a convertible or a mortorcyle?

We are in need of convertibles and/or motorcycles to ride in our Red Ribbon Week parade, which will be on Friday, October 30. This is always a fun day at Rasor, and we have a grade parade planned for that morning beginning at 8am. SBIC - School Based Improvement Committee

September, 2015

Dear Parents,

We are off and running for the 2015-2016 school year. I hope that you and your child share in our excitement for the beginning of this school year. This is the time of year when we organize our School Based Improvement Committee (SBIC) and put membership in place for the new year. Each member serves a two year term. This year we are searching for four parent positions on the committee, along with two community members and two business members. Each open position will be filled by a random drawing.

The pool of volunteers comes from you. If you are interested in serving on this committee, please read the guidelines carefully, return a note with the information included at the bottom of this letter to our front office no later than Friday, September 25, 2015 at 8 am. You may also email the information to me at staci.camp@pisd.edu.

Below are the guidelines and expectations:

· Serve a two year term

· Commitment to three afternoon meetings during the school year (first meeting will be October 16th at 12:30)

· Desire to cooperate with all committee members in order to improve the quality of education at Rasor Elementary

· Openness to listen to others and look objectively at various situations

· Ability to focus on the big picture for the good of the whole school rather than specific concerns

I would also like to ask for assistance in locating two community members and two business members to serve on this committee. Community members are defined as a person living in the Rasor attendance zone but do not have children attending our school. Thank you for your continued support.
