A Message from Mr. Zeck
TVA Families,
This week marked the first time that most Duneland students had done a full 5 day week of school in-person since March 13, 2020. In fact, even for us, this week was a milestone as our first full week with live-teaching sessions in the TVA. If the past 17 months have shown us anything is that we are truly stronger together.
We appreciate the ongoing communication and feedback we are receiving from families as we learn best practices and fine tune our work with Edmentum and the TVA. We continue to grow in numbers as well adding new families to our ranks each day.
I want to draw your attention to a few items:
- New Staff - We want to welcome Mrs. Sara Lorenz and Miss Taylor Lipniskis as our Success Coaches. In the coming days they will begin to reach out to you and partner with you to support student success.
- Nurse Assigned - Mrs. Ruthie Olson has been assigned as our TVA Nurse to assist with all screenings, immunization documentation, and other needs as you may have during the course of the year.
- Pictures - We have plans to assist everyone in getting school pictures. Check out the information below to help you out. High School students have pictures this week.
- OnSite Day 9.9.21 - Students in grades K-8 will have an onsite half day to get some beginning of the year assessments done as well as other annual tasks. Please see below for more information and a link to register your child for this day. Registration is due by Friday, August 27th at the end of the day.
- Announcements - Remember to check out morning announcements each day in the TVA Advisory Canvas course tile. I will continue to give you additional information and supporting encouragement each day.
We truly appreciate all that you are doing in partnership with us to support student success. Have a great week
Sincerely,
Mr. K. Zeck
TVA Director
K-8 In-Person Day Sept. 9, 2021
We have been working to plan to the first of these days on September 9. Our goal is to get as many of these items done in one day to reduce the need for onsite visits for our TVA family. Based on the success of this first day, we will have better understanding on how to proceed and schedule the rest of the days for this school year.
The TVA Staff is now fully located in the southeast corner of Chesterton Middle School. All onsite days, meetings, and training will take place at 601 W. Morgan Ave at entrance 8. This entrance is the old Y-Care entrance closest to the tennis courts near the pool parking lot.
On September 9th the following will take place.
- All Students will take NWEA Reading and Math Assessments
- Students in Grades K-4 will work with a Reading Specialist to participate in their mCLASS DIBELS Assessment
- Students in Grades 1, 3, 5, & 8 will have vision screening (time permitting)
- Students in Grades 1, 4, & 7 will have hearing screening (time permitting)
- Students in Grades 5-8 will participate in our Annual Body Safety Program through Dunebrook
Families are asked to sign up for one session using the link provided below.
Students should bring their full charged school issued iPad to the session to participate in all assessments.
Duneland will follow current COVID level requirements for social distancing and mask usage for students & staff. Families that opt for bus transportation need to be aware of the face covering/mask requirements for all students when riding the bus. TVA Staff will be using masks and face coverings at all times when working with students.
Grades K-8 School Pictures
Grades 9-12 School Pictures
ALL 9th-12th Grade TVA students may go to CHS on August 26th or 27th for pictures between 2:30 & 3:15 p.m. Students should sign in at the main desk at Entrance 1 and proceed to the assigned picture location. Once done students should return to the main desk to sign out.
Hybrid students who are already on campus may go to the picture location at the END of their hybrid class during the passing period and then check out through Entrance 1 as per usual.
Vocational students who are unable to attend the 2:30-3:15 time slot may go to CHS prior to their vocational time in the middle of the day.
If these days and times do not work for you then you can get your picture taken during the scheduled TVA day in October and we can make sure that it is passed along to CHS for inclusion in the 2021-2022 Yearbook.
