Classroom News!

In keeping with our Baby unit, the children examined baby board books and what made them different from regular books. Each child authored and illustrated a simple baby board book. The care, thought, and creativity put into each book was marvelous! Please take a moment to look at these books with your child. The children's wrists also jingled with sock bracelets that they created during a sewing project.

This week we had a special event in the Tech Lab. Along with children all over the world, we participated in the Hour of Code. The children were introduced to the basics of computer coding. It was such fun!

Conversation Starters

*Can you think of 2 things that are important when you make a baby book?

*Sing the song/poem "Calypso Baby." (You may find the song by Skip West on iTunes)

*How many sight words can you remember? (Hint: there are 5 that we have learned!)

Fun Things To Do At Home

* Enjoy the sights and sounds of the season with each other.

* Look for items in your home or neighborhood that can be matched with the numbers 1 - 10. For eg., 1 sun, 2 telephones, 3 beds, etc. This can be done over several days. Keep a record by drawing pictures of the items you found.

Apps This Week!

This week we used an app called " Four in a Row." This app is similar to the game "Connect Four" and involves using strategies to be the first to get 4 little dots in a row.

Poem of the Week

Calypso Baby

Oh, the baby is chubby chubby chubby (2 times)

And that's what the baby should be.

Oh, the baby is cry, cry, cry (2 times)

And that's what the baby should be.

Oh, the baby is laugh, laugh, laugh (2 times)

And that's what the baby should be.

Oh, the baby is crawl, crawl, crawl (2 times)

And that's what the baby should be.

Oh, the baby is messy, messy, messy (2 times)

And that's what the baby should be.

Oh, the baby is love, love, love (2 times)

And that's what the baby should be.
