Construction Update

The construction funded by the support of the community through the passed referendum is continuing with completion scheduled before the beginning of next school year. The last of the once 32 portables in the district will be removed from Hadley Junior High right after this school year ends!

Some classes will be moving into the new Hadley addition after spring break and an open house with ribbon cutting will be scheduled for the addition before the end of the school year. A heavy construction schedule will continue and school buildings will mainly be closed over the summer months. Thank you for your patience and understanding during the construction as we continue to work on making the needed improvements to our buildings.

Rock Your Socks

March 21 was World Down Syndrome Day. The date was chosen to symbolize the uniqueness of the triplication (trisomy) of the 21st chromosome which causes Down Syndrome. To bring awareness, people across the world are wearing crazy socks, including the District 41 Central Services Office staff! Thank you to Board of Education Secretary Jason Loebach for providing the staff with official “Rock Your Socks” socks!

NFL Football Player Visits Forest Glen

In the fall, Mrs. Magrini's Forest Glen 5th graders analyzed a news article about NFL player Matt LaCosse which focused on the struggles he has overcome in his life. Matt's mother, Forest Glen's own PE teacher Kim LaCosse, shared this with Matt, which led to a surprise visit this week! Mr. LaCosse answered questions about motivation, what helps him in stressful situations, achieving goals and how failures can lead to positive outcomes. Mr. LaCosse, who just signed with the New England Patriots, personalized autographs for each student. Thank you to Matt and Kim LaCosse!
