From Play-Doh to Print: Making Arguments with Young Writers: Jan 25 & Mar 6
Writing isn't something that all of our littlest writers can do, but it's something that they can "make," given the right environment, resources, and support. This session will invite elementary teachers, special education teachers, interventionists, literacy coaches and others to think about helping even the youngest writers share their opinions, self-advocate, and even make good arguments. Join us as we examine the important role of play inside of the writing classroom, assess the magic the making, and learn how to attend to standards in ways that engage kids and elevate the quality of their work. Come learn how to infuse joy in learning while working as a teacher of writing.

Get Them Talking: Increasing Oral Language Opportunities for ELLs: Jan 29-Feb 16

**3-Week Online Course** Oral language provides the foundation for literacy skills for English language learners of all ages and proficiencies. Moving this principle into instructional practice, however, can present a challenge. This course will give teachers of ELLs the background and tools necessary to increase opportunities for oral language in the classroom. Mid-West RBERN is offering the course online through the Schoology platform so that participation is self-paced and flexible. Participants will engage with readings, videos and discussion boards on a weekly basis to complete the course and receive 3 CTLE hours.
Escape into the Library: Feb 8
Come and learn about escape experiences: from tabletop, to BreakoutEdu to whole rooms. Learn more about their use to support library programs and educational curriculum and go through an example escape experience to build a frame of reference and familiarity. Lastly, begin to explore ways you can leverage these engaging resources, gaining direction and guidance in beginning to develop escape experiences and integrating them in your library.
