Parent-Teacher Conferences At Chequamegon North
Parent-teacher conferences at Chequamegon North were unique, to say the least, but I guess that is our motto for this year! Glidden Elementary families were able to participate in virtual conferences while trying out virtual learning from home as the Google Meeting will also be the form of instruction they will use in the event of home learning. Chequamegon Middle School Students were contacted via grade-level teams or individually depending on student needs and performance. Families were also able to use a phone conference if connectivity was an issue. This experience allowed for many added opportunities to gain insight as we were able to speak with parents, help parents and students visualize what home learning may look like if necessary, and get a definitive understanding of students without internet access which is a constantly evolving point. I personally loved this option as I was able to attend my child's conference from school while my husband and son joined with his teacher from home. Another one of those aspects that might stick around after we "get back to normal."
September & October Students of the Months
Table Top Fire Drill
On Friday, September 18th, Chequamegon North held a tabletop fire drill. This drill was initiated by a brief sound of the fire alarm so students could hear it and then discuss the next steps in their emergency action plan. Individual classes at the middle school level were able to discuss the various routes with each class throughout the day so students would understand the variety of routes available to them in the event of an emergency. Elementary students took staggering times throughout the day to practice on a classroom level in order to ensure safety and limit exposure.
Elementary In-Service & Hybrid & Virtual Learning
On Monday, October 12, the district elementary schools came together in grade-level teams to discuss current and best practice with virtual learning and blended learning. It was a great opportunity to adapt and plan as well as prepare for the potential of virtual learning. Topics included Solutions to Student Engagement in Virtual/Blended Learning, SeeSaw, Monitoring Students Online Activities using Hapara, and Educating Parents in the Event of virtual learning.
