Hazel Green Basketball

The Trojan Nation will tip-off today, January 8th, against the Patriots at Bob Jones. Varsity Boys will tip-off tonight at 7:30 PM; Varsity Girls and Freshman Boys at 6:00 PM; and Junior Varsity Teams this afternoon at 4:30 PM. Look forward to seeing you there! Have a safe trip out!

Prom Committee Meeting

Prom Committee Meeting Wednesday, January 13th, Room C110 at 3:35. Any Junior who wants to help with Prom is eligible to participate on Prom Committee and should plan to attend the meeting. Deadline to purchase a Prom ticket will be February 29th. See Mrs. Dean (C1120) or Mrs. Bell (N213).

Annual Softball Supper

HG Softball Team is hosting its 22nd Annual Softball Supper in the cafeteria on Saturday, January 30th, 2016, 6:30 PM. The cost per ticket is $35.00. (includes a meal for two and a $20 door prize) Please contact Stacey Smith, Booster Club Treasurer, 256-683-8453 or ask an HG softball player!

Debbie B. Rice Memorial Scholarship

Alabama Educational Technology Association (AETA) announces a $10,000 scholarship will be awarded to a public high school senior enrolled in a school system with a delegate member in this organization. Madison County Public Schools is seeking graduating seniors with a record of volunteerism in the community in both non-school sponsored and extracurricular school activities. The recipient must attend an accredited college/university or technical school located in the state of Alabama. The applications will be reviewed and recipient of the scholarship selected by a committee of volunteers. The scholarship will be awarded at AETA Winter Meeting in Montgomery, March 2016. Dave Draper Sr. Memorial Scholarship

Enclosed is the 2016-2017 Dave Draper Sr. Scholarship Application. Please distribute to any eligible graduating seniors. Photocopies of the application can be made as well for the students. Applications with all supporting documents must be postmarked by March 7, 2016. We look forward to the potential applications coming from the students of Hazel Green High School.

Revision to Pre-Approved Absence Policy- Students requesting pre-approved, excused absences will need to turn the form into Mrs. Sharp at least 20 days before the planned absence. Forms can be found on the school website.

Procedure for Riding the Bus with a Friend
- Any student who plans to ride home on a bus with a friend or to another address should follow the procedures below. No student will be allowed to ride to a different address without verification of parent/guardian approval by a school official.

1. A parent/guardian note should be turned in before first block to the receptionist desk at the back of the school. The note should contain the address and information for the bus driver and should include the date and a correct phone number for verification purposes.

2. Pick up the verified note from the receptionist during lunch.

3. Give the note to the bus driver when entering the bus at the end of the school day.

Going green at “the Green”. The Hazel Green High School Special Education Department needs your old cell phones and ink cartridges. Items to be recycled can be given to a Special Education teacher or left for collection at the office. Your support of our recycling fundraiser is greatly appreciated.

Driver’s permit:
Students /Parents, remember to pick up the Student Enrollment Form before you go to get your permit. The driver’s license department will not allow you to take the test unless you have this form and it cannot be faxed after you get there. These forms are good for 10 days only.
